Best Prop Firms for Swing Trading (2026)

Most prop firms say swing trading is allowed. Far fewer let you hold through the night and the weekend on a funded account without an add-on, measure the daily loss limit in a way that suits a position held for a week, and keep the cost of holding under control. We checked the firms listed on Propify Compare to find the ones that genuinely suit swing traders.

Last checked: 15 October 2026. Rules verified against each firm’s own help centre where published.

Short answer: The best prop firm for swing trading in 2026 is Fintokei’s ProTrader Swing. It allows overnight and weekend holding on funded accounts, ignores open trades in its daily loss limit and is swap-free as standard. FTMO’s Swing account and Alpha Capital’s Alpha Swing are the strongest alternatives, though both count floating losses and charge swaps.

Why swing traders need a different shortlist

Prop firm rules are written for intraday traders. A swing trader faces different problems: funded-account rules that differ from the evaluation, weekend gaps, a daily loss snapshot taken while a trade is still open, and swap charges that build up with every night a position stays open.

What matters to a swing trader

1. Overnight and weekend holding on the funded account

Check the rule for every stage, not just the evaluation. FundingPips allows holding during its evaluations, but funded Master accounts close open positions automatically each day unless you bought the Swing add-on at checkout. FTMO’s Standard account allows weekend holding in the evaluation but not once funded, and Alpha Capital’s Alpha Pro plan does the same at the Qualified Analyst stage. The best firms allow overnight and weekend holding on the funded account as standard.

Weekend holding also brings gap risk: if Monday opens beyond your stop, the loss and any resulting breach are yours, as E8 Markets states plainly.

2. How the daily loss limit treats open trades

This rule catches swing traders more than any other. The firms we list use three methods:

  • Closed trades only. A floating loss does not count until you close the position. Only Fintokei’s ProTrader Swing works this way among the challenges we list. This is the best fit for swing trading.
  • Start-of-day balance, open losses included. Floating losses count in real time, but floating profit carried overnight does not tighten tomorrow’s floor. FTMO, Alpha Capital’s Alpha Swing, FundedNext and E8 Markets work this way.
  • The higher of balance or equity at rollover. A large floating profit raises the next day’s floor, so a retracing winner eats your room. BrightFunded, The5ers and FundingPips work this way; it is the least forgiving method for swing traders.

3. Static or trailing drawdown

A static maximum loss is fixed from your starting balance. A trailing one follows your high-water mark, and if it trails on equity, a winning trade that retraces can tighten your limit before you have banked anything. Swing traders should favour static drawdown.

4. News rules on positions you already hold

A swing trade will sit through scheduled releases, so check whether a stop or target filling inside a news window counts as a news trade. The better rules exempt older positions: BrightFunded exempts take-profits on trades opened at least 48 hours before the release, and FundingPips and TradersYard exempt trades opened five hours or more beforehand. Our guide to prop firm news trading rules covers the windows firm by firm.

5. Swap charges: keep them low, or remove them

For an intraday trader, swaps barely register. For a swing trader they are often the largest trading cost, and they are easy to underestimate because they arrive a night at a time. Every rollover you hold through costs a swap, tripled on Wednesday for most forex and commodities and often on Friday for indices. Swaps come off your simulated balance, so they slow your progress to the profit target, and at firms such as FundedNext and BrightFunded they count towards the daily loss limit. The5ers warns that holding indices over the weekend “carries a high swap”.

The scale adds up quickly, and our guide to prop firm fees shows how swaps fit alongside commissions and challenge fees. Hold 2 lots for two full weeks at a swap of $8 per lot per night: ten rollovers, two of them Wednesday triples, means fourteen nights’ charges, or $224. Against that, a swap-free add-on priced at 10% of a $549 challenge costs $55.

Swap-free accounts are usually worth paying for. For a trader who holds most positions overnight, a swap-free add-on can pay for itself within a couple of weeks of trading, removes a cost that counts against both the profit target and, at some firms, the daily limit, and makes the cost of holding predictable. Fintokei’s ProTrader Swing is swap-free as standard; FundedNext, BrightFunded and E8 Markets sell swap-free options at checkout. They must be chosen at purchase, and you should check which instruments they cover.

Check and monitor live swaps in the platform. None of the firms we list publishes per-instrument swap rates on its public website; FundedNext, The5ers and BrightFunded all direct traders to the platform instead. Swap rates also change as interest rates and the firm’s liquidity costs move, so a rate you checked at purchase may not be the rate you pay a month later. Before you buy and while you trade:

  • Read the symbol specification. In MT5, right-click the instrument in Market Watch and choose Specification. Note the long and short swap separately (they often differ in sign as well as size) and the triple-swap day.
  • Use a free trial where the firm offers one, to see the rates before paying.
  • Watch the swap column on open positions. It shows what each trade has cost so far; review it before each triple-swap night and before holding over a weekend.
  • Recheck before each new swing trade, especially on indices and metals, where charges are often higher.

6. Automatic risk controls and inactivity

Some firms close positions for you. Blue Guardian’s Guardian Shield closes all open trades on funded 2-Step accounts when combined floating loss reaches 2% of the initial balance. Many firms also expire accounts after 30 days without a trade, which matters to a patient trader waiting for a set-up.

How we checked and ranked

We reviewed the rules of all 20 firms listed on Propify Compare, from the firms’ own help centres and our profiles, as at 15 October 2026. The ranking uses two criteria above all others: whether the funded account allows overnight and weekend holding as standard, and how the daily loss limit treats open trades. Swap-free availability, drawdown type, news rules and cost decide the order within each group.

The best prop firms for swing trading

1. Fintokei ProTrader Swing: purpose-built and swap-free

Fintokei meets both criteria and has the most complete swing package we found. ProTrader Swing permits overnight and weekend holding, and Fintokei states that the movement of an open position alone will not breach its 5% daily limit. Accounts bought from 15 July 2026 are swap-free as standard, so the cost of holding is removed entirely. The maximum loss is a static 10% and news trading is allowed. The trade-offs are 1:25 leverage on forex, a 3% risk cap per open position and a $679 price for $100K.

2. FTMO Swing account: the established option

FTMO offers a Swing account type on its 2-Step Challenge that removes weekend and news restrictions. The daily limit is set from the midnight balance, with open positions, swaps and commissions counted in real time. Leverage falls to 1:30. Swaps are charged with no published swap-free option, so check rates in the platform before holding. Swing must be chosen at purchase.

3. Alpha Capital Group Alpha Swing: built for holding

Alpha Capital Group allows weekend holding at every stage of Alpha Swing. The 5% daily limit is set from the day’s starting balance but judged on live equity, and the maximum loss is a static 10%. Leverage is 1:30 on forex. Swaps apply, with no swap-free option. Avoid Alpha Pro and Alpha Direct if you hold over weekends.

4. FundedNext Stellar: weekend holding plus a swap-free add-on

FundedNext allows overnight and weekend holding on its Stellar CFD challenges and funded accounts. The daily limit is set from the start of each day, with open positions and swaps included, which makes the swap-free add-on (around 10% of the fee) especially valuable here: it stops overnight charges eating into the daily limit. The Stellar 2-Step has a 10% static maximum loss. On funded accounts, profit from trades placed within five minutes of high-impact news is cut by 40%.

5. E8 Markets: E8 One and E8 Pro only

At E8 Markets, E8 One and E8 Pro allow overnight and weekend holding; E8 Zero and Signature do not. The daily drawdown is set from each day’s starting balance. E8 Pro uses static maximum drawdown; E8 One’s rises with closed profit until it reaches the starting balance. A swap-free option is available at extra cost. E8 One’s funded account does not allow news trading.

6. The5ers: holding allowed, but the daily floor ratchets

The5ers allows overnight and weekend holding without an add-on, and High Stakes has no time limit and a 10% maximum loss. The daily limit is set from the higher of the previous day’s closing balance or equity. Swaps are charged with no swap-free option, and The5ers itself flags weekend swaps on indices as high, so monitor them closely.

7. BrightFunded: swap-free add-on, but the same ratchet

BrightFunded permits overnight and weekend holding on every account, sells a swap-free add-on, and publishes the most help on checking swaps, including a calculator for converting swap points into dollars. Against that, the daily floor resets from the higher of balance or equity. Choose a 2-Step account; the 1-Step trails equity in real time.

8. FundingPips: only with the Swing add-on

FundingPips is a good evaluation for swing traders but a poor funded account without the Swing add-on (10%). Without it, funded Master accounts close open positions automatically every day between 20:45 and 21:00 UTC in summer. The daily limit is set from the higher of balance or equity.

9. Darwinex Zero: no daily limit, a different model

Darwinex Zero is not a challenge. You pay a subscription (€45 a month or €420 a year) to build a track record that investors and Darwinex’s own allocation can follow. Weekend holding is allowed and there is no daily loss limit. Swaps are not charged to you but are reflected in your performance, so they still matter to the track record investors see.

Allowed, with conditions

These firms permit holding but carry a rule to weigh before buying. None offers a built-in swap-free account, so check live swap rates in the platform.

Not built for swing trading

FTMO Futures, Legends Trading and FundedNext’s futures accounts require you to be flat each session. E8 Zero and Signature, FundingPips Zero and Alpha Direct also prohibit weekend holding. ICFunded is reported to require positions closed before the Friday market close; confirm before buying.

The fine print that catches swing traders

  • Choosing the wrong account at checkout. Swing account types, swing add-ons and swap-free options generally must be selected at purchase and cannot be added later.
  • Not watching swaps. Rates change; check the symbol specification and the swap column on open positions, especially before Wednesday and weekend rollovers.
  • Carrying a big floating profit into rollover. Where the daily floor resets from the higher of balance or equity, an unbanked winner shrinks tomorrow’s room.

Frequently asked questions

Which daily loss method is best for swing trading?

A limit measured on closed trades only, as on Fintokei’s ProTrader Swing. Next best is a limit set from the start-of-day balance, as at FTMO, Alpha Capital, FundedNext and E8 Markets. A floor reset from the higher of balance or equity, as at The5ers, BrightFunded and FundingPips, penalises carrying floating profit overnight.

Is a swap-free add-on worth it?

For most swing traders, yes. A 10% add-on on a $549 challenge costs $55, which a trader holding a couple of lots overnight can exceed in swaps within a fortnight. It also stops swaps counting against your profit target and, at some firms, your daily loss limit.

How do I find a prop firm’s swap rates?

In the trading platform. None of the firms we list publishes per-instrument rates on its public site. In MT5, open the symbol specification to see the long and short swap, use a free trial before buying where one is offered, and monitor the swap column on open trades, as rates change over time.

The bottom line

The best prop firm for swing trading lets you hold on the funded account without paying extra, does not count a position against you until you close it, and keeps the cost of holding low. Fintokei’s ProTrader Swing is the only challenge that meets all three. Wherever you trade, take the swap-free option if one is offered, and check live swap rates in the platform before and during every swing trade. Propify Compare’s firm profiles set out the rules for every firm we list. If you trade a different style, see our guides to prop firms that allow scalping and prop firms with no consistency rule, and read why prop firms deny payouts before your first withdrawal.
